Intermedia, the world leader in hosted Exchange for SMBs, is looking for an experienced, success oriented, highly motivated Senior Storage Engineer to lead all aspects of our large and growing storage environment. Intermedia's continued rapid growth makes this is a critical position that is key to Intermedia's future success.
The individual that is best suited for this role should be able to demonstrate that they have a deep technical understanding of individual storage technologies as well as the experience to handle design engineering and future planning for the entire storage infrastructure, spanning Intermedia's multiple data centers.
To be considered for this position you should have had success at a senior position at a large managed service provider, a SaaS company with high-volume online operations or a large corporate enterprise.
Job Description
The Intermedia Sr. Storage Engineer will oversee Intermedia's ever growing SAN infrastructure. Currently this infrastructure is spanned across four data centers and contains approximately two petabytes of storage. The role of the Storage Engineer includes but is not limited to: engineering SAN and fabric design, future planning, installation, operation, capacity management, and ongoing maintenance of Intermedia's storage infrastructure.
Essential duties:
•Manage large, complex and mission-critical storage systems
•Manage availability of all storage systems
•Lead capacity planning, performance management, and system optimization for storage systems
•Drive ongoing documentation of storage infrastructure
•Install and configure new and existing storage hardware and software
•Lead the planning and implementation of storage-related projects, including storage scaling, replication and migration projects
•Participate in evaluations of emerging storage technologies
•Participate in on-call rotation as required to support a 24X7 business
•Lead training programs for appropriate operations staff globally
Required skills:
•Significant experience with systems administration on large-scale storage infrastructures
•Expert level EMC Clarion Storage knowledge along with complex fiber channel networks
•Experience with installation, configuration and daily use of EMC ECC management platform
•Significant experience with Brocade and McData Fiber Fabrics
•Experience with Fiber connected Tape libraries and how they integrate into a Fabric
•Strong planning and organization skills
•Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
•Ability to work independently, with little direct supervision
•Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously
Desired skills:
•UNIX systems administration and management skills (Linux, FreeBSD, Solaris)
•Strong working knowledge of standard Internet networking protocols, services and applications (TCP-IP, NFS, HTTP, RSYNC, etc.)
•Strong working knowledge of multiple storage architectures and technologies (DAS, NAS, Fiber Channel, volume management, EMC, Hitachi, NetApp, Isilon, 3PAR, DDB)
•Experience with VMWare's ESX product
•Experience with multiple large scale data back-up technologies
•Experience with cluster file systems
•Experience with data replication technologies
Education or Equivalent Experience:
•Four year college degree or equivalent experience
•Four years experience administering disk storage subsystems in an enterprise or service provider environment.
