Fellowship: Financial Management Fellow -- REMOTE, Bay Area candidates preferred

Encore Fellowships provide paid, transitional engagements in non-profit organizations, for those typically 50+ and considering retirement, with 20+ years experience, who wish to move to the social impact sector for their second act. Applicants apply to be considered as a Fellow and matches are made based on skills, interest, and availability of positions at non-profit hosts, continually throughout the year. Fellowships are 1000 hours, typically part-time for a year, and include a $25,000 stipend, education on the sector, and networking with a cohort of peers.

MUST HAVE NONPROFIT FINANCE EXPERIENCE

Responsibilities in Financial Management include:
- Manage financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting
- Manage grant reporting
- Support Director of Finance and supervise finance team
- Prepare financial reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Assist in fiscal risk management

Stipend: $25K for 1000 hours, with the possibility of extension
Work Schedule: 20 hours a week for 12 months.
Work Location: 100% REMOTE
Bay Area candidates preferred but qualified applicants outside the Bay Area or in other states will be considered.

Qualification Requirements:

·       Bachelor's degree in a natural science's field with 2-3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

·       License in the state of CA as a CLS, CGMBS or CCS

·       Experience with RNA and or DNA sequencing, extracting and analysis for daily molecular testing

·       Experience performing molecular techniques related to Next Generation sequencing

·       Experience with NGS library preparation, hybridization, and sequencing

·       Experience ensuring and maintaining integrity and quality of the laboratory in the areas of sample processing, equipment maintenance and SOPs

·       Possesses appropriate computer skills with strong data entry skills

·       Ability to communicate effectively

·       Motivated to work independently and within a team environment

·       Willing to work in a biohazard environment and follow safety policies and standards outlined in the Safety Manual

·       Ability to troubleshoot issues and problem solve

·       Attention to detail and critical thinker

 

Preferred Experience:

·       Experience working with software, quality systems and lab automation

·       Knowledgeable of molecular laboratory processes, techniques and equipment (such as pipettes, thermocyclers, and liquid handlers)

 

Job Description:

Performs clinical laboratory tests to support patient care.  Utilizes a variety of molecular techniques, instrumentation, and disciplines related to Next-Generation Sequencing and other molecular procedures.  Performs laboratory quality control and assurance activities.  Supports with data entry and reporting processes using the Laboratory Information System.
