McKay Brothers, a profitable and rapidly growing financial tech company, seeks a Staff Accountant to work at the Company's US headquarters in Oakland, CA.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter excited to work in a highly collaborative environment alongside a group of seasoned professionals. Candidates must be detail-oriented and have excellent problem solving, organizational and communication skills.

Job Summary:

This professional will report to a Senior Accountant and focus on the integrity of the accounting transactions, processes and reporting. The role requires a thorough working knowledge of finance and accounting, and a firm grasp of financial statements and their interrelationships. You will work alongside and support the US Accounting Team, and interface with the Europe Accounting Team. You will work across multiple successful business lines, both domestic and international, in a dynamic, team-orientated environment.
This full-time position is available immediately (remote work during Alameda County indoor mask requirement, then generally 3 days/week in office and up to 2 days/week remote).

Primary Responsibilities:

Staff Accountant, General Job Responsibilities:

The goal is to contribute to the overall efficient operation of the group and communicate to management details of the company's financial condition so as to support effective decision-making and long term success.
● Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded in a timely and accurate way
● Support and be a backup for accounts receivable and accounts payable
● Perform general ledger account reconciliations
● Assist in the processing of balance sheets, income statements and other financial statements according to legal, company, and financial guidelines
● Assist with reviewing of expenses, etc. as assigned
● Update financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed
● Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports
● Assist senior accountant in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings.
● Assist with other accounting Ad hoc projects

Experience and skills
• 3+ years' in an Accountant position
• Extensive experience with Microsoft Office, Google Tools and ERP Accounting Software (McKay uses Odoo version 13)
• Critical Thinker – deductive reasoning and a problem solver
• Outstanding oral and written communicator
• Must have strong data comprehension and organizing skills
• International accounting/finance experience a plus
• Bilingual in French a plus

Education and licenses:
• BBA in Accounting
• CPA candidate a plus

What you will be doing:
