About The Role
We're seeking an experienced and hands-on Controller to oversee our Accounting and Finance operations functions. The ideal candidate will have proven industry experience as an accountant in a senior role. As a strong communicator and skilled financial analyst, you will make it your mission to streamline our budgeting, payroll, and financial reporting processes while building out our forecasting and financial planning capabilities. You will produce thorough financial-status reports for senior management to help improve our operational efficiency and aid in our continued growth. In addition, you will manage our financial HR operations function.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Accounting and Finances
• Provide comprehensive financial guidance, reports and updates to senior management
• Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual close
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations monthly and ensure proper classifications
• Manage day-to-day accounting functions including payroll, benefits expenses and overall financial exposure
• Manage accounts payable to ensure accuracy and payments are processed on time and according to company policy. Reduce our exposure to unexpected or fraudulent expenses.
• Manage all invoicing to ensure all payments are made to Chooch on time and potential delinquencies and disputes are resolved rapidly.
• Create and communicate financial models including revenue and cost projections
• Develop and implement financial and approval processes to provide consistency and reduce financial risk
• Guide financial decisions by applying company policies and procedures to current economic landscape
• Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines
• Achieve budgeting goals with proper scheduling, analysis, and corrective action
• Maximize payroll efficiency through innovative process development
• Help develop and support short and long-term operational strategies
• Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements as well as the requirements of private contributions, loans, and government contracts
• Maintain internal control safeguards for the receipt of revenue, costs and both team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures
• Establish financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on a bi-weekly, monthly, and annual basis
• Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, upholding federal, state, and local legal standards by remaining knowledgeable about existing, new, and future legislation
• Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflow
• Oversee and support accounting function with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity
Human Resources
• Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments
• Provide research and financial guidance and plans regarding employee compensation, commissions, raises, offers, benefits and associated costs, vacation and leave policy, and the like
• Assist in facilitating recruiting, interviewing and the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions.
• Conduct or acquire background checks and employee eligibility verification
• Implement new hire orientation and employee recognition programs
• Administer, communicate and manage our benefits programs, make recommendations for improvement
• Administer and execute human resource programs including compensation, benefits, leave, disciplinary matters, performance management, morale, occupational health and safety, training and development
• Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance
• Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
• Manage our employee and talent management systems
Education & Experience Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field
• 10+ years proven accounting experience in a software/SaaS company, startup experience preferred
• Professional accounting certification, including CMA, CGA, or CA preferred
• Working knowledge of finance law and regulatory standards (GAAP)
• Strong understanding of economic and banking processes
• 5+ years' experience as a senior-level accounting; Controller or Accounting Manager
• Strong working knowledge of detailed financial data analysis
• Proven payroll experience, with a focus on streamlining accounting processes
• Experience with revenue recognition in a variety of situations
• Exemplary history of financial project management
• Working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance regulations and reporting
• CPA preferred
• International experience preferred
• Experience managing the HR function within a high-growth environment
• Knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
• Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, organization skills
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines in a high-growth environment
• Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
• Proficient with financial packages and Microsoft Office Suite or related software

As the Content Designer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing unbeatable content and engagement with the client company's users. Requirements
• Work cross-functionally on content creation and direction
• Can create content for different stages of the funnel – shop, learn more, make up their minds.
• Help create content categorization in a way that it can be repurposed across multiple channels
• Can write content informed by user research, A/B testing, data analytics, and our brand positioning and style guides.
• Optimize content for SEO to increase prospective conversions through improved rankings and increased engagement
Desired Skills and Experience
• 5+ years of prior content writing experience (preferably for commerce platforms)
• Strong understanding of omnichannel experiences
